Hey Mark, is now a good time to buy a home? We've never seen a better opportunity for you to go out there and get a good deal. "It's the perfect storm" It's the best time to buy a home since I began my real estate career 17 years ago. 1st, interest rates are as low as they've been in the past 20 to 30 years which means money is cheap and your payments will be lower. 2nd, home prices are lower than they were during the boom. They're as low as they were in 2002 or 2003 nationwide. 3rd, there are more homes for you to choose from than ever. Five years ago I would show 5 or 6 homes to a buyer only to contend with 15 other people over the same home. Now you have a choice of 50 or 100 homes.
Isn't Spring the season to sell our home? Listen, although Spring is a great time to sell a home, there are a lot of people who put their houses on the market at that time. Let me ask you, do you think more competition on the market will make the value of your home go up or go down? That's why having your home on the market at this time of the year is a good idea. You might not get as many showings but those who are shopping in the winter, fall and spring are very serious buyers. Those are the people you want walking through your home.
